About the client
Daniel is a delightful 11-year-old boy, who has complex needs including Cerebral Palsy (CP), seizures, Global Developmental Delay and associated learning difficulties. Daniel lives with his Mum, Dad and younger brother in an adapted family home, completed with a bespoke therapy space, based in Loughton, Essex. Daniel loves to visit his family in Jamaica each year as well as going on other family holidays and it is helpful if candidates are able to offer the flexibility to accompany them on these holidays to provide the care Daniel requires.
Daniel is not independently mobile and needs a wheelchair for mobility. Specialist equipment is in place including a hoist and other equipment to support safe movement around the family home. It is important that members of the care team are able to undertake this physically demanding but very rewarding role. Daniel loves spending time with happy and outgoing people and makes sounds to communicate emotions. Daniel has a comprehensive therapy plan in place to ensure that he is continually developing and able to enjoy the world around him. The Waking Night Support Worker will be required to implement aspects of the therapy programmes which have been put in place by his MDT.
The Role
Daniel can wake frequently during the night and is often awake early in the morning; his sleep pattern is unpredictable, and he requires frequent attention.
The role of the Waking Night Support Worker is to monitor and attend to Daniel’s care needs throughout the night, ensuring care records are accurately maintained. Duties will include some Client-related domestic tasks within the home.
All of Daniel’s support team are expected to work cooperatively and cohesively with his parents, the Case Manager and the team of therapists.
