We are looking for volunteers to deliver fun and engaging activity sessions in our South Shields based service. If you have a particular skill, or enthusiasm for activities we’d love to hear from you! Your role will involve coming up with ideas for the sessions with input from our service users, preparing the materials and equipment, explaining the activity and helping people where needed, making refreshments and tidying away at the end of the session. This role is a great way to gain experience as a session facilitator.
The sessions can be organising summer day trips, arts and crafts, including painting, ceramics, knitting, crochet, origami, or making use of our large kitchen space to bake cakes. We also have a darts board that people love to use so organising competitions, or if you’d like to set up a group for music sessions and teach our service users to play an instrument let us know. We’d like the sessions to be delivered in the afternoon and early evening, we can be flexible on the day.
Our service has a large communal area with plenty of space for sessions, we are only five minutes’ walk from the Metro station and we have onsite parking available.
As a volunteer with Creative Support, we offer training for your role, access to a volunteer supervisor, an induction, a monthly volunteer newsletter, and an online volunteer support network group on Zoom.
