Receptionist

JRRL are looking for a receptionist for a leading independent school, to provide a welcoming and efficient first point of contact for all callers both by telephone and in person.  The receptionist will also assist with administrative duties to help with the smooth running of the school office.  

THIS IS A PART TIME ROLE AND THE SALARY IS THE ACTUAL SALARY YOU WILL EARN FOR 27.5 Hour per week.  The hours for this role are Monday to Friday (1pm – 6.30pm), term time only (35weeks) plus 25 days to be worked during school holidays (9-2pm).

Main Duties of the Receptionist:

  • Responsible for the appearance of the reception area on a day to day basis;
  • Answering all incoming calls, redirecting as appropriate and handling enquiries when possible;
  • Greeting, assisting and/or directing students, parents, visitors;
  • Monitoring visitor access and ensuring that security policies/emergency procedures are adhered to at all times;
  • Providing general administrative and clerical support where required to the School Office and Heads of Department;
  • Maintaining the staff directory and all internal/external mail systems;
  • Supporting the afternoon Home to School Coach Service communicating with Service Managers, students and parents when necessary;
  • Providing support to the Facilities team in particular during the school holidays;
  • Carrying out any other reasonable requests, in line with the broad responsibilities of the job.
  • Assisting at the School Open Day which takes place annually on a Saturday in September;

Person Specification for the Receptionist:

  • Have an approachable manner with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organisation skills with excellent time management
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service and demonstrating a “can do” attitude
  • A team player who can work effectively with other staff
  • Have Word and Excel experience

This is a part-time permanent position.
