Administrator / SEN Office Administrative Assistant with excellent administration and IT skills, experience of working in a SEND / SEN office and an understanding of the SEND Code of Practice is required to join a new state of the art secondary school within a well-established Academy Trust based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.

This role is known internally as an Additional Support Administrator

SALARY: £24,405 per annum FTE, Actual Annual Salary £19,094 per annum (based on 33.75 hours, term time only) + Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire (SO30)

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 33.75 hours per week, 8:15am - 4:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:15am -3:15pm Friday, term time only (39 weeks)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Administrator / SEN Office Administrative Assistant with excellent administration and IT skills, experience of working in a SEND / SEN office and an understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.

Working as an Administrator / SEN Office Administrative Assistant you will provide efficient and professional administration support to the SENCo and SEN Team. The role requires someone who has a detailed understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, the legal requirements of Education, Health, Care Plans, access arrangements and has previous experience of working in a SEN office.

As the Administrator / SEN Office Administrative Assistant you will pay meticulous attention to detail, be able to prioritise and demonstrate good time management and a flexible working approach.

DUTIES

Your duties as an Administrator / SEN Office Administrative Assistant will include:

  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date SEND student records, both electronic and paper-based, adhering to GDPR regulations
  • Process and track referrals for SEND support, assessments, and external agency involvement
  • Organise and schedule meetings related to SEND, including Annual Reviews, EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) meetings, and parental consultations, sending out invitation, gathering teacher evidence and preparing relevant documentation
  • Provide general administrative assistance to the SENCo and other members of the Learning Support Department
  • Handle departmental correspondence, emails, and phone calls, responding to enquiries or redirecting them appropriately
  • Be responsible for maintaining the Learning Support Department diary
  • Provide word processing and SIMS support
  • Enter provisions and events into SIMS
  • Liaise with Specialist Teacher Advisors
  • Assist with maintaining the SEN Register
  • Supervise/support pupils as and when required
  • Support with the Learning Mentor induction programme
  • Contribute to the development of computer-based administrative systems

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience within a SEN / SENCo / SEND environment
  • Previous experience of providing administrative / admin / office support
  • English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or above / Levels at Grade 4 or above
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT proficiency
  • An understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, the legal requirements of Education, Health, Care Plans, access arrangements
  • Highly organised and thrives in a collaborative, team environment
