Job Description

The Asset Allocation team, is responsible for the management and growth of our diversified fund ranges with over £100bn of assets under management. The team brings experience across investment management, investment consulting, banking, and academia, working with pension funds, insurers and retail clients

Defined Contributions (DC) is an important and growing business for the Asset Allocation team and central to L&G's strategy. This individual will join the highly successful Asset Allocation team in DC Strategies

This team is responsible for the management of the Target-Date Fund and Lifetime Advantage Fund ranges (the DC Defaults for L&G) which are anticipated to have around £45bn AUM by the end of 2025.

As Deputy for the head of the team, the successful candidate will help to shape the future evolution of the strategy to ensure it continues to deliver the best value for our members. You'll also help shape the team in terms of culture and be heavily involved in setting the strategy for the team and individuals within the team

What you'll be doing:

  • Prioritising work within the team, ensuring the remit is fully understood, risks are considered and commercial factors are thought through
  • Leading several of the teams workstreams across the business
  • Working in partnership with other investment functions across L&G Asset Management in order to bring the best of the various capabilities together to deliver dynamic and market leading investment solutions for our Target Date Funds and select strategic clients
  • Driving forward the market focused elements of innovation with the Target Date Funds in conjunction with the broader Asset Allocation team
  • Alongside the head of the team, derive the strategy for the team and help set objectives for all team members and then drive the strategy forward.
  • Establishing where processes can be streamlined and risks reduced and look to ensure these changes are made by helping prioritising alongside the teams other work
  • Providing a key link between DC Investments and the consultants to ensure we positions things appropriately
  • Partnering with distribution and directly with L&G Asset Management clients to understand the challenges that DC clients face, and to deliver genuine solutions to their needs
Qualifications

Who we're looking for:
  • Extensive asset management knowledge and experience and in particular relating to investments and markets. Knowledge of the DC landscape, ESG background desirable
  • Actuarial or equivalent investments technical background desirable.
  • Proven business and commercial judgement skills.
  • Strong and credible external profile amongst investment consultants, clients and market participants
  • Strong project management skills and a track record of delivery to various levels of seniority often within tight timeframes
  • Manage and leverage key relationships within Investments, Distribution, the wider DC and Workplace teams and other L&G teams in order to grow this rapidly changing business.
  • Ability to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas in a logical manner.
  • Strong academic/professional qualifications background and/or experience gained in similar positions required.
