Community Warden

This role is focused on supporting a safe, welcoming, and positive experience for members of the public in a busy urban environment. The postholder will be a visible, friendly presence, helping to build relationships with the public and local businesses, assisting with enquiries, identifying issues, and supporting the smooth running of the area.

This is a people-focused position ideal for someone with strong interpersonal skills, situational awareness, and a proactive, problem-solving approach.

  • Hours: 28 hours per week over 4 days, including some weekend work
  • Location: Based in a busy town centre environment (outdoor, public-facing role)
  • Contract: Fixed-term through to 2027, with potential for extension
  • Requirements: Standard background checks (DBS) will be conducted

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a welcoming presence to members of the public, offering guidance, information, and support as needed.
  • Carry out regular on-foot patrols of the town centre or designated area to monitor activity and identify issues.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, service providers, and community members.
  • Report or escalate any safety, security, or maintenance issues to the relevant authority or service.
  • Observe and report incidents in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
  • Assist in deterring antisocial behaviour by maintaining a calm and approachable presence.
  • Provide support at public events, helping to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for attendees.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and accessible environment through regular observation and communication.
  • Follow all company procedures relating to health, safety, and conduct.
  • Keep records of daily activity and incidents using provided reporting tools.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team covering various shifts including weekends.
