Physical Intervention & Safeguarding Trainer (3-Day Course Delivery)
Paragon Social Care is seeking a skilled and reliable Trainer to deliver a comprehensive 3-day Physical Intervention and Safeguarding Training Programme, built on the General Services curriculum and underpinned by Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
This role is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in behaviour management, trauma-informed practice, and experience delivering physical intervention training. Please note you will be expected to travel to Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Durham County Council.
Training Overview
Days 1 & 2 - Physical Intervention Training
Using the General Services curriculum the training includes:
- PBS Awareness & Planning
- Understanding Stress Vulnerabilities
- Behavioural Triggers & Functions
- Trauma-Informed Practice (Intro)
- Autism Awareness
- Active Support & Body Language
- "What is Restraint?" - Legal and Ethical Considerations
- Legal Framework: Human Rights Act & Related Legislation
- Psychological Aspects of Intervention
- Positional Asphyxia & Ligature Risk Awareness
- Conflict and Behaviour Cycles
- The Role of Staff Attitudes & Language
- De-escalation Techniques - ABC (Atmosphere, Body Language, Communication)
- Physical Intervention Planning & Risk Assessment
- Breakaway and Physical Intervention Techniques
Day 3 - Safeguarding & Trauma-Informed Practice
Focused training for staff working in Children’s Homes and vulnerable settings:
- Safeguarding Children Level 2 (including LADO referrals, Philomena Protocol, intelligence sharing, county lines awareness, contextual safeguarding)
- Trauma-Informed Practice & Introduction to Polyvagal Theory
- Working within the Expectations & Standards of Paragon Social Care
Applicant Requirements
- Must have a full driving license and access to a vehicle
- Proven experience delivering Physical Intervention training
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding in children's services
- Confident in training delivery, with the ability to engage and educate staff teams
- Reliable, professional, and values-aligned
