Who are Ambient Support?

Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years' experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with a mental health needs and people with learning disabilities.

Our Service at High Street, Chislehurst is an older adults Continuing Rehabilitation Registered Care Home. It is a large, detached house which provides a home for ten Individuals. We offer a high-quality unique service for older adults with severe and enduring mental health problems with complex needs. We can also support those with early onset dementia and/or diagnosis of autism.

The role of our Care Home Cook:

• Good cooking skills
• Ability to organise a catering environment
• Basic administrative skills, carry out menu planning and complete catering auditing and other relevant documentation
• Basic nutrition knowledge
• Knowledge on Food and Hygiene regulations
• Understanding of Health and Safety regulations including COSHH regulations
• Experience of HACCP Risk Assessments
• Good spoken communication skills to relate well to staff and residents
• Basic written communication skills to leave written instructions and to follow a stock control system Must be able to demonstrate an understanding and awareness of Equality & Diversity.
• Ability to work flexibly, responding to the needs of the service, ensuring that the home has cook cover
• Capability of working in a position that requires manual handling tasks as a core requirement

Skills and attributes of our Cook:

- Basic nutrition knowledge

- Good spoken communication skills in order to relate well to staff and service users.

- NVQ level 2 or above in catering (Desirable)

- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices

- Positive attitude, enthusiasm along with influencing and motivational skills

- The ability to cope with and remain calm in very challenging and demanding situations.

- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

- Strong teamwork skills
