Our client, Lawton Tubes, is looking to appoint a new Non-Executive Chair to lead the Board of Directors as they take the company through its next stage of development and growth.

Lawton Tubes is the UK’s leading supplier of copper pipes, tubes, fittings and accessories, with four key markets - plumbing & heating, air-conditioning & refrigeration, medical gases and industrial & engineering.

It is a fourth-generation family-owned business, with a £240m turnover and 145 employees. With ambitions to continue its impressive track record of sustainable growth, plans are already in place to significantly expand the product range and to develop a new purpose-built facility.

The role of the Chair:

• Leading the Board - chairing meetings, setting agendas, facilitating communication and promoting good governance.
• Providing independent oversight - scrutinising senior management performance, reviewing company strategy, ensuring financial integrity and managing risk.
• People responsibilities - evaluation of the Board’s effectiveness, succession planning for executive director roles and overview of senior management reward.

Typical paths to this role:

• An experienced Chair looking for a new challenge.
• A current non-executive director looking to move into their first Chair role.
• An individual who has left (or is looking to leave) a full-time executive role who is keen to remain involved in a business at a senior level.

Experience and skills:

• Useful sector backgrounds will include - logistics and distribution, international merchanting, manufacturing and construction.
• Potential key areas of business experience will be - sustained company growth, utilisation of technology for business improvements, complex supply chains and both domestic and international customer markets.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, high level interpersonal skills and knowing what and when to challenge and question.

The remuneration on offer is negotiable and will be commensurate with the expectations of the high level of individual we are looking to attract to the position.
