Role Overview: You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process using Sage 50 and Sage 200, ensuring accurate and timely payroll runs, statutory filings, and pension returns. You’ll collaborate closely with Finance and HR teams to maintain payroll records and support staff queries.
Key Responsibilities: - Process monthly payroll runs in Sage 50
- Handle starters, leavers, tax code changes, student loans, and other HMRC notifications
- Complete statutory payments and record journal entries in Sage 200
- Collect and reconcile monthly variations and timesheets from sites
- Prepare and submit monthly HMRC filings and pension returns
- Produce payroll reports for review by the Group Finance Manager and Director of Finance
- Manage year-end payroll tasks, including P11D generation
- Oversee auto-enrolment communications and support staff queries
- Liaise with pension providers and HMRC to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with meetings between staff and pension advisors
- Support HR with communications related to role and salary changes
- Maintain accurate payroll records and files
- Provide summaries and data analysis for management information
- Assist with preparation of information for external audits
Person Specification: - Full driving licence required due to office location
- Minimum of 2 years payroll experience
- Proficient in Sage 50 or similar payroll software
- Strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail
- Competent IT skills, including Excel
- Clear, courteous, and professional communication skills (oral and written)
- High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Ability to follow instructions and manage workload independently
- Well-organised with excellent time management
- Team player with a collaborative mindset
