Ways to Wellness
Ways to Wellness was launched in 2015 to deliver a world-first social prescribing prototype using investment from an outcome-based Social Impact Bond (SIB). Their work has since expanded and they now facilitate, pilot and prototype healthcare interventions, using an iterative and collaborative test-and-learn approach that provides the evidence to tackle health inequalities and create systemic cost savings, while empowering individuals to take ownership of, and improve their short and long term health. Ways to Wellness (WtW) Foundation, which has a number of collaborative projects with partners, is a charity and company limited by guarantee that currently has one trading subsidiary, also a limited company. Their offices are located in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne on the beautiful Quayside and they are proud of offer flexible and hybrid working pattern.

The Opportunity: Head of Finance - Part Time
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Finance will work closely with the CEO ensuring first class financial management and robust financial controls, as well as playing a significant part in the management and strategic planning of the business. This is a part time, permanent position requiring the successful post-holder to work 2.5 days per week or approximately 18.5 hours across the week with flexibility around working patterns. 

The Head of Finance will be responsible for financial modelling, financial reporting, control and forecasting. The successful candidate will maintain good external relationships with partners, assist the CEO with contract management matters, and present financial information to the Ways to Wellness Board of Non-Executive Directors and Trustees. The postholder will be responsible for statutory accounts preparation, compliant with the Charities Act, Charities SORP and other applicable legislation.
Key Requirements
We are looking to speak to candidates who align with the following criteria:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with senior-level experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive, business-minded and strategic approach.
  • Experience with charity finance, or experience with multiple funding streams and project accounting.
  • Comfortable getting involved in all areas of Finance, from transactional duties to contributing to organisational strategy.
  • A collaborative team player who can work flexibly and influence effectively.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and address complex financial challenges and identify solutions. 

Benefits/Application
  • Salary: £50,000 per annum pro rata 2-2.5 days per week 
  • Contract: Permanent 
  • Holidays: 30 days paid holiday (pro rata for part time) plus bank holidays.
  • Pension: Ways to Wellness will contribute up to the equivalent of 5% of your gross salary to match your equivalent contribution.
  • Benefits: Health and wellbeing plan (after six months’ service).
  • Base: This role will be based at Ways to Wellness’ office (Newcastle Quayside)
