Finance Assistant

Part time, permanent - 22.5 hours per week

Salary: £30,000 per annum (full time equivalent)

ENB are supporting a Stevenage based organisation who are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a part time, permanent basis.

This role will support the Head of Finance with finance administration tasks including processing of invoices, payments and expense reporting, reconciling bank statements and ledger accounts and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Invoice and Payment processing
  • Raise debtor invoices as required, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution
  • Support accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense claims
  • Prepare and manage payments through BACS, adhering to financial controls
  • Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts on a regular basis
  • Reconcile all income sources, ensuring documentation supports efficient bank reconciliation in the accounts package
  • Assist in maintaining schedules and reconciling deferred income, expenses, accruals, prepayments, and payroll
  • Maintain accurate and organised filing systems for financial documents
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records
  • Support the finance team in meeting month-end and year-end deadlines
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Support the preparation of management accounts and related reports
  • Ensure accurate filing and preparation of financial returns to the group
  • Respond to email, telephone, and in-person queries professionally and promptly
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for departmental processes, including standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to ensure compliance with accounting principles and organisational policies

Qualifications, Skills, Experience required:

  • Formal accountancy qualification would be desirable
  • A good understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance role
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills
  • A pro-active approach to work and problem solving, and the ability to spot and deal with issues as they occur
