Wiltshire College & University Centre have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Resources Advisor join our team.

Learning Resources Advisor – The Role:

As a Learning Resources Advisor, you will be at the heart of our mission to empower learners with the tools they need to succeed. Your role? To serve as the ultimate guide through our learning resources, both physical and digital, housed within our Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

Learning Resources Advisor – Key Responsibilities:

Customer Support and Resource Access:

  • Provide first-line information, advice, and guidance to students and staff using various methods, including digital platforms, ensuring an outstanding customer experience.
  • Assist customers in retrieving and accessing learning resources through departmental systems, including the library catalogue and online resources such as eBook platforms.


Resource Management and Promotion:

  • Support Learning Resources Coordinators in selecting, processing, and promoting new resources.
  • Manage inter-library loan requests, perform book repairs, and promote digital offerings.
  • Space and IT Management: Maintain department spaces to promote creativity and collaboration, ensuring they are welcoming and accessible.
  • Assist customers with IT use, including Microsoft Office applications, WiFi connectivity, and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and perform first-line problem-solving.


System and Administrative Maintenance:

  • Maintain the library management system and other resource services, perform regular stock checks, and manage an equipment loan service. Perform general administrative tasks required for the successful operation of the service.
  • Professional Development and Continuous Improvement: Support the delivery of department induction programs for students and staff.
  • Engage in self-assessment and quality initiatives to support the College’s continuous improvement process. Take responsibility for personal professional development and undertake relevant training as agreed with the line manager.

Essential Qualifications

To apply for this role, you will hold English & Maths GCSE at Grade C/level 2 equivalent or above or be willing to work towards them.
