Join a friendly and professional accounting team in Guildford as a Payroll & Bookkeeping Specialist.
This permanent role offers a competitive salary of £35,000–£45,000 full-time equivalent, with the option for pro-rata pay if working reduced hours.
The position combines approximately 60% payroll responsibilities with 40% bookkeeping duties, supporting a modern, flexible working environment with hybrid working and adaptable schedules.
The payroll duties you will be working mainly with Directors of Owner Managed Businesses and their staff; you will manage end-to-end payroll processes, including processing salaries, bonuses, deductions, pensions, statutory pay, and issuing payslips. You must keep full compliance with UK regulations (PAYE / NICs, auto-enrolment, RTI reporting, P60s, etc.). You’ll reconcile payroll data, resolve discrepancies, respond clearly to any payroll queries ,stay current with legislation, and suggest ways to improve systems and efficiency.
On the bookkeeping side, you'll maintain sales and purchase ledgers, process invoices, expenses, and payments, perform bank reconciliations, post journal entries to nominal ledgers, assist with Quarterly VAT returns and some month end work.
Previous payroll experience is essential and you should be proficient with a payroll system such as Sage, IRIS, or BrightPay, as well as bookkeeping cloud bases platforms such as Xero or QuickBooks.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused, discreet with confidential data specifically used to handling payroll data and can clearly explain information to the clients.
