Role Purpose
The post-holder will provide personal digital medical services to registered patients on the LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor patient list. The post-holder will manage a wide range of health needs and at all times, ensure the highest standards of care for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- In accordance with the timetable, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including algorithm consultations, telephone consultations, safeguarding consultations and any resulting correspondence in a timely fashion. The case-load will be split amongst the clinical team consisting of independent prescribing pharmacists, nurses and doctors, all of which hold similar consulting and prescribing responsibilities.
- Providing compassionate care, upholding the highest standards of empathy, dignity and integrity in all actions.
- Proactively contribute towards driving good clinical governance and quality improvement at all times.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current internal guidelines, develop care plans for that patient.
- Completing of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.
- Providing counseling and health education.
- Refer and signpost patients for further opinions and interventions where required.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated prescriptions, and on extremely rare occasions hand-writing prescriptions if required.
- Prescribing in accordance with the LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Identifying, reflecting on and preventing significant events and untoward incidents.
- Participating in teaching and education as required.
- Continually monitor and review internal clinical guidelines to ensure they are updated according to national clinical guidelines, writing guidelines for new services.
- Reviewing and writing clinical content for internal and external communication.
- Active involvement in the research and development of services.
- Attendance at meetings and education sessions as deemed necessary.
- Ensure that the complaints system is adhered to at all times.
- Awareness and compliance with all relevant internal guidelines e.g. data protection, confidentiality and health and safety.
- Attending training and events organised by LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor or other agencies, where appropriate.
Experience and Qualifications
- MBBS, MRCGP qualifications or equivalent
- Experience of effectively handling customer complaints
- Energetic, empathetic communicator
- Excellent patient-centred dispute management skills using first time resolution approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams
- Well organized, motivated
