A small, friendly accountancy practice is looking to appoint an Accountant with strong accounts preparation experience to join their Stockport office.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys client interaction, thrives on variety, and is confident working across multiple accounting software platforms. The role will suit a motivated individual who can work independently as well as part of a supportive team.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing accurate and timely financial statements and reports for clients
• Ensuring compliance with income tax and corporation tax regulations
• Using a range of accounting software, including Iris, Sage, Xero, and FreeAgent
• Liaising with HMRC on matters related to tax and compliance
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, gathering required information, and providing advice
• Guiding and supporting junior staff with accounting-related queries

What they're looking for

• 3-5 years' experience in accounts preparation (not audit)
• ACCA or AAT qualification preferred, but not essential
• Proficient in or willing to learn multiple accounting software packages
• Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and general office systems
• Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines independently
• Professional communication skills with confidence in client interaction
