Management & Project Accountant
At Alice House Hospice, we are proud to provide exceptional care and support to our community – and we are looking for a dedicated Management & Project Accountant to join our Finance team, to play a key role in ensuring the financial sustainability of our vital services future.
In this key role, you’ll lead the day-to-day financial operations of the charity, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory standards. Working closely with our Director of Finance, you’ll provide the insight and analysis that enables our leadership team and trustees to make confident, informed decisions.
What you’ll be doing:
- Overseeing financial accounting processes, including month-end and year-end reporting, audits, and reconciliations.
- Supporting the preparation of management accounts, budget setting, variance analysis, and funding bids.
- Driving process improvements, supporting digital transformation, and helping us get the most from our finance systems.
- Building strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation, presenting financial information in a clear, accessible way.
- Helping ensure we remain financially sustainable so we can continue to deliver life-changing services.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong financial management skills, ideally with experience in the charity sector (Charity SORP, FRS 102).
- A collaborative approach and the ability to communicate financial information to non-finance colleagues.
- An eye for detail and a passion for improving processes and systems.
- Confidence in supporting budget holders and preparing business cases.
- You will be AAT qualified or part qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent
- Familiarity of financial procedures for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and cashbook
- Knowledge of charity accounting principles
- Experience of SMI – HR & Payroll modules
- Have strong analytical and advanced Excel skills
