Job: Payroll Bureau Senior / Manager
Salary: £32,000 - £35,000
Location: Outskirts of Basildon
Hours: 37 hours per week, full time | Part time maybe considered over 5-day week
Our client are a reputable accountancy practice seeking a dedicated Payroll Bureau Senior / Manager to oversee the transition of our payroll services in-house and develop our payroll profit center. This is a key role within the practice, focused on managing the end-to-end payroll process for our clients and internal operations, ensuring compliance, optimising operational efficiencies and driving revenue growth through innovative payroll solutions. This role requires close collaboration with colleagues across the practice to ensure seamless service delivery and compliance.
Role:
- Lead the migration of payroll functions from external providers to an in-house payroll department, ensuring a smooth transition for clients and internal teams.
- Personally manage all payroll activities for clients and internal staff, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant salary and benefits processing
- Identify, select, and optimize payroll systems and software to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Stay current with payroll legislation, tax laws, and employment regulations to ensure full compliance across all payroll operations.
- Grow the payroll service offering as a profitable element of the practice by identifying new opportunities, developing value-added services, and strengthening client relationships.
- Liaise effectively with clients and HMRC
- Oversee RTI Submissions, P11Ds, P45s and year-end payroll processes including P60s
Skills:
- Proven experience in payroll management within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environment. Minimum of 2 Years
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, tax regulations, and compliance requirements relevant to the UK
- Ability to develop and expand payroll services as a revenue-generating part of an accountancy practice
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and adapt to change
- Proficiency with payroll / CIS software, accounting systems.
