Digital Content Officer

Job description

The Digital Content Officer supports the Digital Content Manager in the delivery of all the Genesis Foundation’s online content, including social media output, video production (filming and editing), the Foundation’s newsletter and website maintenance. When appropriate, the Digital Content Officer makes executive decisions on the Digital Content Manager’s behalf.

The role also includes performing administrative tasks such as keeping the company team schedule and database up-to-date, ensuring online account security backing up the Foundation’s One Drive and taking meeting minutes.

Social Media

  • Execute the Digital Content Manager’s digital strategy in the output of social media content on the Foundation’s Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads and YouTube channel i.e. drafting and scheduling image and video assets, writing copy, using up to date/ relevant hashtags, writing alt text.
  • Liaise with partners on social media output i.e. using correct image credits, organising cross collaboration posts.
  • Support the Digital Content Manager in bespoke social media campaigns for major projects.
  • Proactively engage with external social media activity i.e. replying to comments/ messages, engaging with tagged posts/ Instagram stories.
  • Ensure accessibility of all social media output i.e. accurate closed captions for video content, alt text for image content, using Camel Case hashtags.

Website

  • Ensure all website content is up-to-date and accurate to reflect the Foundation’s latest activity.
  • Write alt text for all image content.
  • Draft and post news stories on partner and project activities.

Newsletter

  • Draft, design and schedule the Foundation’s newsletter, ensuring it reflects the Foundation’s latest activity.

Video Production

  • Support the Digital Content Manager in devising video content plans.
  • Support the Digital Content Manager on film shoots, ensuring the camera equipment is running smoothly and shots are framed appropriately.
  • Act as lead editor when creating organic video content, implementing the Digital Content Manager’s vision and responding to feedback when necessary.
  • Create accurate and branded closed captions for all video content.
  • Ensure branding on all video content is cohesive and clear.

Genesis Events

  • Support the wider Genesis team in the organisation of key Genesis events.
  • Manage event guestlists.
  • Play a hands-on role on the day of the event.
  • Act as a Genesis representative when attending productions and concerts by Genesis partners and collaborators and, when appropriate, post this activity across the Foundation’s social media channels.

General Admin

  • Update the Foundation’s database up-to-date.
  • Update both the Foundation and its chairman John Studzinski’s Wikipedia pages.
  • Manage the Genesis Foundation Team email inbox.
  • Take minutes for all internal meetings and meetings with partners.
  • Ensure all online accounts are secure, including the Foundation’s social media accounts and shared drive.
  • Back-up the Foundation’s shared drive to the company hard drive every 6 months.

Essential skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy and consistency across all digital content.
  • High proficiency in video editing.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to craft clear, engaging, and accessible copy for various platforms.
  • Understanding of social media platforms and their respective content formats, trends, and best practices.
  • Experience using website content management systems.
  • Experience using basic image editing tools (Canva).
  • Commitment to accessibility standards, including the use of alt text, closed captions, and inclusive language.
  • Interest in and awareness of the arts (e.g. music, theatre, publishing, visual arts), with a knowledge of its audiences and cultural relevance.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and deadlines with efficiency and professionalism.
  • Confidence in representing the Foundation at in-person events and in communications with external partners.
  • A collaborative attitude with the ability to take initiative when required.
  • Proficient written and spoken English.

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of the Adobe package including, but not limited to, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Experience using WordPress.
  • Copywriting proficiency for longer-form content.
  • Experience using Mailchimp.

Please note that the Foundation is looking to recruit a London-based candidate, as the role involves attending events - some at short notice - and requires a reliable and readily available presence in the city.

Terms

  • 12 hrs p/w (split across 3 days)
  • £1300 p/m

This is a freelance role. Fee is non-inclusive of extensive holiday and sick leave.

Shortlisted applicants will also be required to complete a short task before/after their interviews. A basic free Canva account and basic video editing software will be required for the tasks.
