Lufton College

Cambian Lufton College is a specialist residential education provider for 16 to 25-year olds with Autism, learning disabilities, and complex behavioural and emotional needs. The college provides a 2-3-year pathway to prepare our students for adulthood, equipping them with the skills and qualities required to lead a fulfilled, independent and ambitious life.

The Role

The Housekeeping Assistant will work as part of a team and is expected to work effectively and collaboratively with all colleagues delivering the housekeeping services across area areas of Cambian Lufton College.

The Housekeeping Assistant will be responsible for ensuring that all allocated areas are cleaned and maintained to a high standard. They are also required to clean various parts of the college in order to maintain a hygienic, safe and pleasant environment in which people can live, learn and work. Supporting staff where requested to ensure that that students clothing and linen is also clean, hygienic and in good condition.

To clean designated areas (i.e. student staircases, student houses and other College accommodation) during College term-time and to supply additional housekeeping support to aid the smooth running of the service  i.e. to service offices/meeting rooms

Housekeeping staff are required to work flexibly across all areas of the college as directed by their line manager or a member of the Senior Leadership team.

Main Responsibilities

• To undertake cleaning (toilets, kitchens, corridors and stairs) of communal areas, homes, offices and educational areas. Housekeeping Assistants may be allocated specific areas of responsibility which may change from time to time.
• To maintain the standards and working practices set through the infection control policy and expectations of the college, as directed by the Admin Manager and Head and College at all times.
• To dispose of rubbish, replenishing toilet, cleaning and sanitary items where required and within a timely manner.
• To support care staff where required, to clean students’ rooms to satisfactory standards at the end of each term in preparation for their return.
• To ensure all equipment is used correctly and left in good working order at all times;
• To monitor areas for damage, reporting any problems to the Admin Manager.
• To notify the Maintenance Manager of any repairs required to broken furniture and fixings and other excessive wear and tear that may place others at risk.
• To maintaining tidy cleaning cupboards and following risk assessments – including COSHH risk assessments and stock checking of cleaning areas.
