Assistant Chef

12 Months Fixed Term Contract, Part Time

22.5 hours per week (3 days over 7 days per week)

The weekly Rota will be fixed and wherever possible the days will be consecutive.

About the role

We’re looking for an Assistant Chef to support our Head of Catering 3 days a week in the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen at Plaxton Court, a high-quality retirement village that offers older people a relaxed, safe, and welcoming place to live.

You’ll assist in the production of food that will be served to residents and the public in the coffee shop and events/parties ensuring the kitchen area is always clean and support the Food Service Assistants with the service of food to residents/public.

About you

As our Assistant Chef, you’ll hold an appropriate catering qualification (NVQ Level 2 Food Production or similar) and have relevant experience of food production to a high standard in a commercial catering operation. Working to a budget for food costs but also working to income targets, you’ll have experience of adherence to EHO regulations in relation to food safety.

With sound interpersonal and communication skills, you’ll be able to work as part of the team as well as occasionally manage it.
