SEN Teaching Assistant – Hearing Impairment Support

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting students with hearing impairments in a specialist SEND school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class and 1:1 support to students with hearing loss.
  • Facilitate communication using appropriate methods (e.g., BSL, lip-reading, speech).
  • Support the use and maintenance of hearing aids, radio aids, and other assistive devices.
  • Collaborate with teachers and hearing support services to deliver inclusive learning.
  • Promote social interaction and emotional well-being among students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments.
  • Understanding of communication strategies and assistive hearing technologies.
  • Excellent listening and observational skills.
  • A calm, encouraging, and inclusive approach to support.

Desirable:

  • British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or equivalent.
  • Additional training in deaf awareness or audiology support.
