Part Time Support Worker

Location: Burgess Hill area

Salary: £14 per hour for all waking hours

Vacancy Type: Permanent, 8 hours per week, split over 2 days (Wednesday & Friday 11am-3pm)

About The Company

The company provides regular 1:1 clinical supervision and 24/7 emergency on-call support. Its experienced payroll and human resources teams ensure that support workers always have a point of contact for employment and pay queries.

They do not directly employ support workers, but they recruit them on behalf of their clients. Their dedicated and experienced case managers are responsible for the day-to-day management of the support team. They provide access to mandatory training and brain injury-specific training

On behalf of their client, they are recruiting for a part-time support worker to provide 1:1 support to a lovely lady with an acquired brain injury, living in her own home in the Burgess Hill area. She enjoys swimming, gardening and getting out and about in the community.

The Role

Support is required with transport, companionship, helping on the allotment, meal planning and preparation (including shopping) and providing support after physiotherapy sessions when she may feel fatigued. The role also includes medication reminders, assistance with setting up appointments, and helping to organise daily activities and administration. No previous experience required.

Skills and Qualifications

If you are emotionally intelligent, have a good sense of humour, and can problem-solve while building a positive relationship, you will enjoy working with their client. You will also be collaborating with specialist health professionals and have an excellent opportunity to gain valuable skills and knowledge.

You must have the ability to motivate others, problem solve, require empathy and ability to change plans last minute if required to suit client needs.

• Enthusiasm to support client’s participation in social and leisure activities in a variety of settings.
• The ability to bring your own strengths and interests to the team.
• Previous experience would be an advantage, however, applicants with no experience but a willingness to learn, may be considered. Training will be provided in all aspects of the role required to support their client.
• Carry out household chores and prepare meals.
• Ability to communicate effectively, as part of a team and on behalf of the client who is limited in her ability to communicate her needs for herself.
• Full UK driving licence required with ability to drive their client in her own vehicle.
• Support to enable their client to be as independent as possible, including helping to manage day-to-day responsibilities, planning and organising social activities, and dealing with correspondence and personal appointments
• Have up to date DBS at enhanced level – paid for by the employer if you need to apply.
