An established construction business is seeking a highly experienced and reliable Accounts Assistant to join a small, close-knit finance team. With a sizeable turnover and a fast-paced environment, this role will suit someone hands-on, detail-oriented, and confident taking ownership of the purchase ledger and supporting the wider finance function. Working closely with the Finance Manager and providing cover during periods of absence, making you a key member of a team of three.

What will you do as an Accounts Assistant?
- Purchase Ledger – processing a high volume of invoices and applications
- Input and process manual cash book transactions
- Post journal and ledger entries (SAGE-based system)
- Complete month-end reconciliation and assist with month-end and year-end close
- Generate accurate financial statements and project costings
- Manage VAT returns, including Domestic Reverse Charge and CIS compliance
- Process monthly payroll
- Support the Finance Manager and cover during absence
What do you need as an Accounts Assistant?
- Finance experience, ideally within construction
- Proficiency in SAGE 200 and experience with manual cash books
- A meticulous eye for detail, high accuracy
- Strong journal posting and reconciliation experience
