Company Profile

An established construction business is seeking a highly experienced and reliable Accounts Assistant to join a small, close-knit finance team. With a sizeable turnover and a fast-paced environment, this role will suit someone hands-on, detail-oriented, and confident taking ownership of the purchase ledger and supporting the wider finance function. Working closely with the Finance Manager and providing cover during periods of absence, making you a key member of a team of three.

What will you do as an Accounts Assistant?

  • Purchase Ledger – processing a high volume of invoices and applications
  • Input and process manual cash book transactions
  • Post journal and ledger entries (SAGE-based system)
  • Complete month-end reconciliation and assist with month-end and year-end close
  • Generate accurate financial statements and project costings
  • Manage VAT returns, including Domestic Reverse Charge and CIS compliance
  • Process monthly payroll
  • Support the Finance Manager and cover during absence

What do you need as an Accounts Assistant?

  • Finance experience, ideally within construction
  • Proficiency in SAGE 200 and experience with manual cash books
  • A meticulous eye for detail, high accuracy
  • Strong journal posting and reconciliation experience
