SALARY: £13.50 per hour

Hours: 15 hours 2 days a week 9am-5pm (with a 30-minute unpaid break)

Are you an experienced and dedicated Care Assistant? We’re looking for someone to join our clients brand new 21 bed dementia care home.

This home provides specialised 24-hour nursing care for individuals with complex needs, with a particular focus on those living with advanced dementia and others whose requirements may not be fully supported in more traditional care settings. Responsibilities

  • To create nutritious, well balanced 4-week cycle menus using fresh, quality and seasonal produce, within the budget set.
  • Consult residents and clinical staff when developing menus ensuring that all dietary requirements are catered for
  • Review menus quarterly, in line with seasonal changes.
  • Prepare, cook and present meals attractively, ensure that the majority of the menu is home cooked with minimal use of convenience foods.
  • Ensure that modified meals and snacks are provided in line with operational procedures.
  • Provide a breakfast service to our residents in line with their requests.
  • Serve food to residents in dining rooms at lunch and supper times ensuring a rotation of catering staff between communities of the care facility.
  • Talk and engage with residents on a daily basis, taking feedback and making necessary changes.
  • Ensure that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the main and satellite kitchen, monitor these areas and audit.
  • Manage kitchen stock levels and stores, ensuring all food is correctly marked and robust stock rotation systems are in place to comply with food hygiene regulations and company policy and procedures.
  • Order stocks and check deliveries are in line with what was ordered. Ensure all stock is rotated accurately to ensure efficient and economic use of supplies.
  • Ensure equipment is used appropriately. Report defects and withdraw from use immediately.
  • Attend residents’ meetings, evening and weekend functions as they arise to facilitate a quality service to residents and guests of the home. Ensure feedback from resident’s meetings is acted upon.
  • To support the compliance team to ensure all staff within your department have up to date legislative and mandatory training.
  • Complete and maintain the appropriate Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and HACCP checks.
  • Comply with food safety and health and safety policies. Ensure that food safety paperwork is accurately completed and is compliant with food safety legislation.
  • Ensure personal mandatory training is up to date.

Requirements

  • Level 2 or equivalent in catering Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 Health and Safety Infection Control training
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Preparation and presentation of modified diets Awareness of wider COSHH legislation
