The business A well-established and dynamic business in Gorton is seeking to hire a Finance Assistant on a part-time basis for an initial 6-month contract. As one of the UK’s leading manufacturers, the company operates in a fast-paced and innovative environment, offering the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a thriving finance team.
The role This role is ideal for an individual with a strong eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to supporting key finance functions including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and financial reporting. Reporting to the finance manager duties include: Purchase Ledger
Process supplier invoices and prepare regular payment runs.
Reconcile accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintain a clean and up-to-date invoices inbox.
Log and monitor invoice queries, ensuring timely resolution.
Ensure timely collection of payments and follow up on overdue invoices.
Financial Reporting
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Perform general ledger maintenance, including preparation for upcoming ERP system switchover.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audits.
Sales Ledger
Support the Finance Team with the allocation of cash received to customer accounts.
General Financial Administration
Maintain and update financial databases and accounting systems.
Perform regular bank reconciliations.
Provide administrative support to the wider finance team as required.
Person
Studying towards a finance qualification (AAT, ACCA) or QBE
Prior experience in accounting / finance role
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Ensuring accuracy in all financial tasks and reporting.
Knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP) is desirable
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
