Procurement & Contract Manager - Part time 22.2 hours per week

Salary £49,297 - £57,513 (pro rata based on 37 hours) (dependent on experience) Hybrid working

About the team

Procurement has undergone a number of changes as we grow the support and services offered to our internal stakeholders making it a critical part of Ordnance Survey's Corporate Services team reporting in the Chief Financial Officer.

Whilst the team is set up into 2 categories teams, (Geospatial & Technology & Business Services), the team work together to achieve our collective goals.

With the new Procurement Act 2023 going live in October 2024 together with the success of our stakeholder engagement work, we have recently grown to a team of 13 members.

The Team is involved in all elements of the procurement process from pre-tender strategy through to contract delivery and management and your skills will reflect the end-to-end nature of this work.

About the role

As a Procurement & Contract Manager you will report into a Category Manager supporting on Geospatial & Technology focused Procurement projects.

You will be responsible for the strategy and delivery of all elements of procurement and contract management within your designated category area.

Stakeholder engagement and relationship building, internally and externally, is key to the successful delivery of this role to ensure that successful business outcomes are achieved.

Your analytical and methodical approach will enable you to fully understand your category area and analyse market and industry data to develop and implement procurement strategies which fulfil OS business requirements. Your strategic thinking will allow you to evaluate and recommend sourcing options, tactics, implementation plans and commercial supply risks whilst ensuring compliance with all Public Sector legislative requirements.

The role will be pivotal in ensuring financial savings, performance improvements and added value are made through a strategic and integrated approach to how we manage and work with our suppliers, and our internal business stakeholders.

What we're looking for

You will have a proven track record in the following essential criteria and competencies:

  • Experience of running complex above threshold tenders compliant with Public Sector Procurement regulations

  • Knowledge of spend analytics and reporting

  • Experience of procurement strategy and delivery

  • Proven track record in engaging with and influencing a complex and diverse range of stakeholders

  • The ability to be flexible in your approach to work allocated

  • Part qualified / working towards CIPS or equivalent experience in a public sector environment

Location

We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to split your time evenly, 50% in HQ and 50% working remotely.

Security

OS conducts DBS background checks for all joiners and some of our roles require additional security clearance, we will tell candidates at the appropriate time, if additional clearance will be required for this role.
