Part-Time HR & Payroll Manager (Standalone)

Location: Remote, with some working days each month in Chester and North Wales

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (pro rata, negotiable depending on experience)

Hours: Approx. 20-24 per week (around 3 days, flexible hours)

Contract: Permanent, part-time

The Role

As HR & Payroll Manager, you'll take ownership of HR and payroll across the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a consistent approach to people management. This standalone position offers plenty of scope to develop the function, introducing structure and best practice as the business continues to grow.

You'll have a varied and hands-on remit, managing both operational and strategic elements - from processing payroll to advising on employee relations, updating contracts, and improving policies.

Key Responsibilities

HR

* Lead on all HR matters including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management.

* Review and update contracts, handbooks, and policies to ensure legal compliance and best practice.

* Support and advise managers on disciplinary and grievance cases.

* Drive consistency across benefits, holidays, and pay structures.

* Contribute to HR-related projects to support business growth and engagement.

Payroll

* Manage and process end-to-end payroll for multiple sites.

* Process starters, leavers, bonuses, commissions, and statutory payments accurately.

* Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation.

* Work closely with Finance to reconcile data and resolve payroll queries.

About You

* Proven experience in both HR and payroll.

* Good working knowledge of UK employment law and payroll compliance.

* Strong attention to detail and confidence handling confidential information.

* Organised and self-sufficient, with the ability to manage your own workload.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
