Legal Cashier

A well-established, forward-thinking law firm, our partner offers a full range of legal services to clients across the UK. They pride themselves on our client-focused approach and commitment to high professional standards whilst at the same time developing a work culture where everyone feels welcome.

Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a detail-oriented Legal Cashier to join their finance team.

Role Overview:

As a Legal Cashier, you will be responsible for handling the day-to-day financial transactions of the firm, ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and maintaining accurate financial records. You will play a key role in supporting the finance team and wider practice with all cash handling and accounting procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing client and office account transactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Bank reconciliations and daily banking
  • Posting incoming and outgoing payments
  • Ensuring compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules
  • Handling purchase ledger, including invoice processing and payments
  • Liaising with fee earners and other departments regarding financial queries
  • Month-end and year-end financial tasks, including reporting and reconciliations
  • Supporting the preparation for audits and regulatory reviews

As the right person, you have Proven experience in an accounting function, preferably within a law firm but not essential, and have excellent numeracy and attention to detail. A good working knowledge of legal accounting software, such as LEAP, would be helpful but all training will provided. You are organised, able to prioritise tasks and you are a strong team player.

You enjoy working in an ever evolving (and slightly chaotic) work environment with a team of people that take their jobs seriously but enjoy a laugh and work hard to make the company a place people want to work at.

This is a part-time job-share role, with the option to work remotely if preferred. Ideally you should be able to work 20hrs per week, 10am-2pm Monday to Friday, although this is negotiable, and be able to attend the office at least once every 2 weeks (more during the first 3 months).

What Our Partner Offers:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, plus the office is closed for 10 days over Christmas and New Year.
  • Pension scheme, Life Insurance, Income Protection and Critical Illness Cover.
  • Opportunities for career development and training
  • Friendly and supportive working environment
