Residential Support Worker for 16-18 year olds

Overview

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate support workers to join our expanding team across Winchester, in providing high-quality care and support to children aged 16-18 in a residential setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young people, ensuring their well-being, and fostering a nurturing environment. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to follow care plans, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of the children in our care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and supervision to young people, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Implement individual care plans tailored to each child's needs, promoting their personal development and independence.
  • Foster positive relationships with young people through effective communication and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of young people's progress and updates.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive team environment that prioritises young people's needs.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills relevant to working with young people.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with children is essential; experience in a residential or childcare setting is highly desirable.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting children as needed.
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing care plans tailored to individual needs is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for effectively interacting with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Basic IT skills are required for maintaining records and communicating within the team effectively. Pay

Pay will be from a scale of minimum £13 per hour, increasing dependent on experience and seniority. Sleep in shifts are paid at a rate of £45 per sleep in. Ongoing weekly overtime is available.

Hours

Currently we are looking for part-time staff who are able to undertake at least one sleeping night shift per week (8pm-8am) in addition to at least one week day shift from 10am-4pm on Monday or Friday. There are no daytime hours required on weekends or bank holidays however there are sleeping shifts available every night.
