Growing c£5m T/O SME seek 3 day a week PT Finance Manager to work with the CEO and fractional CFO.
The salary advertised is for a full time equivalent but will be adjusted on a 3/5ths pro-rata basis.
The role is for hybrid working, with regular office attendance required (this could be for all days worked as well if preferred). Hours are 9-5 with 5 weeks holiday (FTE) + bank holidays and standard pension scheme. .Working days are negotiable but will involve flexibility in busy month ends
This role will suit someone looking to work in a growth business that is on a journey to double the company turnover and scale profit over the next 5 years.
My client is looking for a personable and IT literate FM, who has experience in a business somewhere in the region of £4m-£18m T/O who can understand the nuances of a private SME business. The business uses Xero and Excel and some bespoke modern industry specific software that is cloud hosted.
Critical skills, alongside the day to day standard finance operations are someone adept at business partnering the CEO - able to provide timely Monthly Management Accounts to aid decision making and strong cash flow forecasting and management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
• Oversee all day-to-day financial transactions including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Manage payroll processing and pension submissions accurately and on time.
• Maintain complete and compliant financial records.
• Supervise and support the Finance Administrator and Credit Controller, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and clear processes.
• Minimise Debt & Maximise Cashflow through managing timing of payments
Management Accounts & Analysis
• Produce monthly Management Accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow.
• Analyse results, identifying variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare monthly KPI packs in partnership with the CFO, linking financial data to business
performance.
• Support annual budgeting and reforecasting cycles.

• Monitoring key expenses as a proportion of Revenue, with the aim of maximising Gross Margin
Compliance & Governance
• Ensure compliance with HMRC, VAT, PAYE, and Companies House requirements.
• Maintain readiness for audit or external review.
• Ensure financial procedures, controls, and systems are up to date and consistently
followed.
• Support the CFO in maintaining risk registers, insurance renewals, and financial policy
documentation.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
• Maintain and improve the integrity of Xero and integrated systems.
• Identify and implement process improvements that save time, reduce errors, and improve reporting
accuracy.
• Ensure documentation and SOPs are clear, current, and accessible.
• Suggest & Implement software applications from the Xero ecosystem that improve efficiency of the financial and operational environment.
Partnership & Communication
• Present financial information clearly and confidently to non-financial colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with clinical, client care, and operational leaders to ensure budgets and
spending align with strategic goals.
• Support the leadership team with ad hoc financial insights and scenario planning.
