Financial Officer
This is a part-time role with 22.5 hours per week, with set working hours from Monday to Wednesday, which are negotiable. More information can be provided upon request.

NET Recruit is supporting a service business in their search for a part-time Financial Officer working in Dorset. As an integral member of the Finance team, you will take ownership of ensuring all income is accurately recorded across both the finance and housing management systems, supporting smooth operational performance and strong financial governance. Acting as a key point of contact for billing and income-related queries, you will work closely with the Income Accounting Team Leaders to resolve allocation issues and maintain a streamlined process for debtor management. From issuing sales ledger invoices to reconciling payments and providing proactive credit control assistance, you will play a critical role in safeguarding financial accuracy across the business.
Your Role and Responsibilities
While in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:
- Processing received payments, and allocating these to the accounts, as well as posting cash and benefit, debtor invoices and cash receipts to the finance system
- Raising and dispatching debtor invoices, as well as responding to customer requests for standing orders, direct debits or other payment methods
- Reconciling cash and transfer postings
- Posting both universal credit and HR payments to customer accounts
- Examining when needed, customer and debtor credits
- Providing credit control services by actively pursuing the collection of debts and customer payments, chasing the recovery of unpaid accounts and debts that haven't been actioned by the recovery team, and keeping in contact with customers, resolving any queries as needed
- Collecting and administering direct debits and ensuring that all receipts are correctly allocated to accounts
- Handling incoming correspondence via post, email,s and telephone calls
- Ensuring that reconciliation between the bank, the system and financial ledgers can be undertaken
What you will need to Apply:The ideal candidate will bring a strong academic foundation, including GCSEs in English and Maths, alongside hands-on experience of computerised accounting systems and the confidence to adapt quickly to new technologies. While a relevant degree or AAT qualification is advantageous, it is the proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines that will set you apart. A customer-focused mindset, strong communication skills, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude are essential, as is proficiency across Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Those who demonstrate a flexible approach, a strong sense of initiative, and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement will thrive in this role.

A base salary, full-time equivalent would be around £31,198 (working out to be approximately £18,972 with the hours for this role).
