Homecare Carer – Learning Disability & Epilepsy (Weekend Shifts)

Hours: Weekends – 12-hour shifts

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Support Worker to assist a young man with a learning disability and epilepsy. The role involves working 12-hour shifts on weekends, providing consistent and compassionate support in all aspects of his care.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour and be confident in using a calm, patient, and person-centred approach to manage situations effectively and positively.

Our client enjoys being active and social, he loves going out, visiting his local pub, and engaging in community activities. The Support Worker will play a key role in enabling him to continue doing the things he enjoys while maintaining his safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support in all aspects of daily living.
• Promote independence, dignity, and choice at all times.
• Support the client to participate in social and leisure activities, including outings to local venues.
• Manage challenging behaviour professionally and in line with agreed care plans.
• Ensure safe administration of medication and awareness of epilepsy protocols.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with the wider care team. 

Requirements:

• Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and epilepsy.
• Confidence and resilience in working with behaviours that may challenge.
• A caring, patient, and proactive approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work 12-hour weekend shifts.
