Practice Manager

Seymour John are working in partnership with a long-standing accountancy practice in North Shropshire to recruit an entrepreneurially minded Accounts Specialist / Practice Manager on a full-time or part-time basis.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced accountant who wants more than just another role, someone ready to help shape the next chapter of a respected boutique firm, with the potential to take the reins or buy into the business in the future.

The Opportunity

This isn’t your typical accountancy role. You’ll be joining a well-established, owner-led practice that values autonomy, trust, and genuine client relationships over corporate buzzwords and unnecessary meetings.

As the Practice Manager / Senior Accountant, you’ll take ownership of the firm’s operational heartbeat managing client accounts, overseeing workflow, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.

For the right person, this role offers a clear pathway to succession or part-ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Ltd Co and LLP accounts
  • Review CT600s, VAT returns, and bookkeeping prepared by junior staff or freelancers
  • Manage client relationships and deal with HMRC and Companies House queries
  • Oversee internal workflows, deadlines, and compliance processes
  • Improve systems and efficiency across Xero and practice management tools
  • Support the principal with advisory work and client planning
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the practice

About You

You’ll be someone who thrives on autonomy, enjoys responsibility, and wants to make a meaningful impact within a business not just complete tasks.

You will have:

  • Solid UK practice experience (Ltd company and LLP accounts essential)
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero and HMRC systems
  • Excellent communication skills able to speak to clients like a human, not a textbook
  • A practical, hands-on approach with good technical grounding
  • A genuine interest in helping drive the practice forward long-term

If you’re the kind of person who sees opportunity where others see routine, you’ll fit right in.
