A leading national law firm is seeking a Social Housing Solicitor to join their highly skilled Property Charging Team based in Birmingham. What you'll do:
- Advise clients on structuring property portfolios and outline due diligence requirements tailored to various property types within the social housing sector.
- Conduct thorough due diligence processes to enable the drafting and negotiation of Certificates of Title and other essential legal documents.
- Manage complex transactions involving new build properties, older stock, ex-LSVT assets, as well as both charged and unencumbered properties.
- Identify potential issues affecting chargeability or valuation and provide practical solutions throughout each stage of the transaction process.
- Collaborate closely with junior colleagues on tasks such as mapping, property list verification, searches, planning permissions, and regulatory applications including FCA and Land Registry submissions.
- Work in partnership with the Funding Team and other specialist departments on multifaceted projects requiring cross-team coordination.
What you bring:
- At least two years' experience acting for housing associations or similar organisations within the social housing sector, which may have been gained prior to qualification.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also taking ownership of individual responsibilities when required.
- Strong drafting skills with experience preparing Certificates of Title and associated legal documentation for property transactions.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge regarding mortgagee exclusion provisions and related aspects of property law.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to advise clients effectively and negotiate transactions with counterparts in a clear, empathetic manner.
- Demonstrated capacity to build strong client relationships through delivering informative workshops and providing ongoing support.
- Ability to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously with minimal supervision while upholding high standards of accuracy.
- Willingness to mentor junior team members over time, contributing positively to team development and culture.
