Payroll Supervisor

KCR Solutions are delighted to be working with our public sector client in their search for a Payroll Supervisor.

This is a key role responsible for overseeing the organisation’s payroll and pension functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. The successful candidate will also provide expert guidance to staff at all levels on payroll and pension-related matters, acting as a trusted advisor across the business.

They are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and who is committed to providing an outstanding level of customer service. The role will involve liaising with staff and providing information, advice and guidance. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate confidence in managing the end-to-end payroll process independently and the ability to resolve queries in a timely and accurate manner.

Hours 33 per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day to running of the payroll function for the company and the subsidiaries.
  • Responsibility for timely processing of part-time and casual timesheets, staff mileage, expenses and any other non-salaried payroll payments.
  • Calculate and process any payroll adjustments required for salary advances, salary sacrifice schemes, SSP, SMP or any other leaves of absence.
  • Maintenance of accurate and auditable payroll records on iTrent payroll system.
  • Ensure payroll and pension procedures are up-to-date, fit for purpose and regularly reviewed and updated focusing on quality improvement and implementing changes.
  • Responsibility for the timely and accurate submission of all statutory payroll and pension month and year end reports.
  • Responsibility for all administration and completion of reports for the pension schemes (TPA, LGPS, Stakeholder), and provision of information to any other external bodies as required.
  • Manage relationship and attend regular meetings with the HR team, to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll process.
  • Advise senior leaders on contracts, payments, and staffing changes to support strategic decisions
  • Resolve pension and payroll queries across all staff levels
  • Ensure compliance with auto-enrolment and pension reporting regulations
  • Work with system admin to maintain and improve payroll system integration
  • Provide payroll data and guidance to Finance Manager and team
  • Build strong external partnerships and engaged with HR/payroll networks
  • Monitor payroll costings to support budget control
  • Take on additional tasks to meet month-end and year-end deadlines
