Pensions and Payroll Administrator

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Payroll and Pensions Administrator with a strong background in Sage 50? Are you looking for a part-time role that offers flexibility and variety? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team in Ulverston, Cumbria.

This position offers a perfect balance of payroll administration and pensions, with the opportunity to make a real impact within the business. You'll be responsible for processing both weekly and monthly salaried payrolls, maintaining up-to-date records, and ensuring all payroll activities are completed accurately and efficiently.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • End-to-end payroll processing: Manage both weekly and salaried payrolls using timesheets, invoices.
  • Accurate calculations: Calculate pay, deductions, overtime, bonuses, commissions, sick leave, pension contributions, and more.
  • Payroll queries: Check and resolve payroll discrepancies by liaising with managers and staff.
  • Holiday and maternity management: Process holiday entitlements, SMP, and ensure shift and overtime payments are correct.
  • Records management: Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure all payroll systems and files are up to date.
  • Continuous improvement: Support the business in streamlining payroll processes and implementing best practices.
  • Manager support: Provide payroll guidance and support to managers and employees, answering any payroll-related queries.
  • Collaboration with Finance: Work closely with the Finance team to ensure all payroll-related information is accurate and timely.


What You'll Bring:

  • min c 2 years' payroll experience (essential)
  • Sage 50 payroll software experience (training can be provided)
  • Working knowledge of up-to-date payroll legislation
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • MS Office skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive payroll data
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Organised, methodical approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • A proactive team player who can work flexibly to meet the needs of the business


Job Details:

Part-time 30 hours per week (Flexible start and finish times working 6 hours over 5 days per week Friday)
