Adele Carr Recruitment is delighted to be supporting the recruitment needs of a long-established legal firm in Altrincham, who are looking to appoint a Legal Cashier on a part time, permanent basis - school hours or 3 days per week

This is a key role within the finance function, supporting the smooth running of the firm's financial operations and ensuring compliance with legal accounting standards. The successful candidate will have experience working within the legal sector or wider professional services industry, and will bring strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive approach to their workload.

You will collaborate closely with fee earners, management, and wider support teams, providing essential financial support across daily banking, reconciliations, reporting, and regulatory compliance. The Legal Cashier will be responsible for:

• Daily banking and bank reconciliations
• Issuing and posting cheques
• All accounts posting and assisting with month-end routines and reporting
• VAT and PAYE returns
• Payroll and purchase ledger management
• Downloading and posting daily bank statement entries
• Using and maintaining online banking systems
• Inputting and monitoring legal aid claims (where applicable)
• Working with legal case management systems (e.g., Eclipse Proclaim or similar)
• Supporting fee earners and management with finance-related queries
• Ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SRA)

The ideal applicant will be:

• Experienced in a Legal Cashier, Legal Accounts Clerk, Finance Assistant or similar position
• Legal or wider professional services background
• Highly accurate with strong attention to detail
• Familiar with legal accounting systems and SRA regulations
• Able to work independently as well as part of a supportive team
• Proactive, organised and able to manage competing priorities
• A confident communicator with a collaborative approach
