Location: Wallingford Town Council

Salary: £37,280 (pro-rota) Point 26 on the Local Government Agreement 2025/26

Line Manager for: Events and Caretaker Assistant

Reporting to: Town Clerk


Wallingford Town Council is looking for a dynamic and organised Events and Communications Manager to lead our communications, community engagement, and event delivery across the town.

This exciting role involves managing all aspects of community and wedding events, overseeing the Council’s website and social media, and helping to promote Wallingford as a thriving, welcoming market town. You’ll also act as line manager to the Events and Caretaker Assistant, supporting the day-to-day running of the Town Hall and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and promote a calendar of community events, and wedding events.
  • Oversee wedding bookings, packages, and Town Hall coordination.
  • Manage the Council’s website, social media platforms, and general communications.
  • Build relationships with local organisations, businesses, and residents to enhance community engagement.
  • Line manages the Events and Caretaker Assistant, ensuring effective event support.
  • Lead on marketing and publicity campaigns to promote Wallingford Town Council initiatives.
  • Ensure events are delivered safely, within budget, and in line with local regulations.
  • Support funding applications and sponsorship opportunities for local initiatives.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Wallingford Town Council’s strategic objectives.

About You

You’ll have experience in event management, marketing, or community engagement, combined with excellent organisational and communication skills. You’ll be confident managing people, handling multiple projects, and using digital platforms to share engaging content. A flexible approach is essential, as some weekend and evening work will be required.
