Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with SEND? We are seeking dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a school in Wakefield that is part of a multi-academy trust specialising in SEND education.

About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other complex learning requirements. Your role will involve supporting students both in the classroom and during individual interventions, helping them to engage positively with learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH, ASD, and challenging behaviour.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Implement strategies to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour.
  • A good understanding of ASD and strategies to support pupils with autism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
