Finance & Operational Excellence Director

We’re seeking a visionary Finance and Operational Excellence Director to drive integration and reshape the structure of our finance operations. This is a strategic role focused on transformation, streamlining processes, improving systems, and embedding continuous improvement and AI-driven efficiencies to deliver cost savings and operational impact.


Based at our Head Office in Northampton on a hybrid model (3 days onsite), with occasional travel across other sites required. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our central finance function, influencing shared services and core transactional areas while leading a culture of change and innovation.


This is a full-time permanent position. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 09:00 till 17:00. However, some flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!


Pay, benefits and more:


We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £132,000 per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:


  • Lead the integration and transformation of central finance operations, driving process and system improvements for efficiency and cost savings
  • Shape and implement strategies for operational excellence, embedding continuous improvement and AI-driven solutions
  • Oversee core transactional areas and influence shared services operations, ensuring alignment and optimisation across AP, treasury, and general ledger functions
  • Champion a culture of change, coaching teams through transformation and fostering collaboration across multiple locations
  • Act as a key partner to senior leadership, presenting insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making


What you need to succeed at GXO:


  • Proven track record in leading finance transformation and driving operational excellence at a strategic level
  • Experience working with or influencing shared services environments, ensuring alignment and optimisation across multiple transactional functions
  • Strong leadership and change management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams through complex integration and process improvement initiatives
  • Commercial mindset with a focus on cost efficiency, continuous improvement, and leveraging technology (including AI) for smarter operations
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly and building strong cross-functional relationships
