As an Aspiring Child Psychologist, this role will provide you with excellent grounding across several areas: development, behaviour, emotions, and social, emotional and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilites: Aspiring Child Psychologist

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them regulate emotions, build confidence and engage positively in learning.
  • Implement therapeutic and trauma-informed strategies under the guidance of teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.
  • Support students in developing life skills, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms that can be applied both in and outside of school.
  • Build trusting, nurturing relationships with pupils, encouraging their independence, self-esteem and motivation.
  • Assist in creating a safe, calm and structured environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and readiness to learn.
  • Observe, monitor and record student progress, contributing to personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team, including SEN specialists, mental health practitioners and safeguarding leads.
  • Promote positive behaviour and restorative practice, reinforcing boundaries, expectations and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, gaining hands-on experience relevant to careers in psychology, SEN, mental health and education.

** Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students

** £90 - £100 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
