Accounts Senior (Part-Time)

We are working with a growing, independent accountancy practice in Bromley who are looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join their team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and hands-on client work, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across accounting, VAT and CIS.

You will take ownership of your own client base, build strong relationships and deliver high-quality compliance and advisory services with support from the business owner.

Role Overview

You will manage a varied client portfolio, ensuring timely delivery of accounting services and providing proactive advice across accounting, VAT and CIS.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Completing bank, debtor and creditor reconciliations
• Overseeing VAT returns and ensuring correct treatment of standard, reduced and exempt items
• Preparing and submitting CIS returns and ensuring HMRC compliance
• Preparing annual financial statements
• Preparing personal tax returns for directors/sole traders.
• Identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and streamline processes
• Preparing the payroll for clients/directors.

The role includes acting as the primary point of contact for clients, offering practical support and technical insight.

VAT and CIS Responsibilities

The position has a strong VAT and CIS component, including:

• Preparing VAT returns across different VAT schemes
• Advising clients on VAT compliance and legislation
• Preparing and submitting monthly CIS returns
• Verifying subcontractors and ensuring correct deduction rates
• Reconciling CIS control accounts and resolving queries

Experience in VAT and CIS work is essential.

Systems and Processes

Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks is a must. The role also includes supporting system migrations and process improvements where required.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience (practice environment preferred)
• Confident reviewing management accounts, VAT returns and CIS submissions
• Experienced in managing multiple deadlines and working autonomously
• Client-focused, proactive and commercially aware
• Highly organised with strong communication skills

Experience within a practice or outsourced environment would be beneficial.

Package

• £25,000 to £35,000 pro-rata depending on experience
• Part-time, three days per week (open to four)
