Payroll Manager - Part Time

This role supports a growing group with both manufacturing and office staff, multiple pay cycles, overtime, shift allowances and potential multi-entity consolidation.

You will be responsible for end-to-end payroll, statutory reporting, pensions, and ensuring HR/Operations inputs are processed correctly. You will also work closely with the Finance Manager and FD to improve payroll controls.

What You’ll Be Doing

Payroll Processing

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all Group entities (weekly and monthly staff).
  • Ensure all overtime, bonuses, allowances, shift premiums and deductions are processed accurately.
  • Validate and process HR/Operations inputs, including starters, leavers, salary changes and absence data.
  • Prepare payroll summaries and reports for Finance review and approval.
Payroll Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, RTI submissions, and statutory returns.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll law, holiday pay rules, SSP/SMP/SPP and auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Manage PAYE, NI, student loans and attachment of earnings deductions.
  • Maintain strong payroll controls, including accurate reconciliations and audit trails.
Pensions & Benefits
  • Administer auto-enrolment pension processes, including onboarding, opt-outs and contribution uploads.
  • Liaise with pension providers to resolve discrepancies or queries.
  • Support benefits administration (life cover, healthcare etc.) where applicable.
  • Reporting & Integration to Finance
  • Prepare gross-to-net reconciliations.
  • Post payroll journals to the finance system (or provide them to the Finance Manager).
